Heidelberg United are proud to announce the resigning of the entire NPLW Senior squad for 2021
The retention of the entire senior squad speaks volumes of the tremendous amount of trust, loyalty, commitment, and talent assembled in the current senior team.
Berger fans will be delighted to welcome back our Captain Steph Galea, our American’s Sidney Allen and Taylor Schneider, along with Former Victory Goalkeeper Melissa Maizels.
Joining them will be familiar Heidelberg faces with Ellen Turner, Brydie Siryj, Elly Torre, Nat Scicluna, Cat Ioannidis, Penny Bakopoulos and club legend Rita Mankowska.
2020 signings Keely Lockhart, Pam Demetriou, Kathryn Vlahopoulos, Felicity Georgopoulos, Cleo Taliadoros and Mia Tobias will look to continue their great starts at the club and finally get the chance to put on the Yellow and Black in 2021.
“It’s a massive message to the girls in this squad and the rest of the league of how much faith and confidence I have in this terrific group of players. You can talk about having a great culture or great players all you like, but when you have all players hungry, motivated and eager to stay on, that speaks louder than words to describe what we’ve built so far and will continue to build on.” – Coach Jonathan Clemente
Senior Captain Steph Galea is excited to get back. “Absolutely buzzing to be back at the Bergers for the 2021 season. The whole team re-signing at the club is a great achievement and proves the commitment and trust this team have in each other and our coaching staff. Johno and the club and have shown great faith in this squad, and we look forward to building from where we left off in 2020. I am very excited to continue working with Johno and such a talented group of girls on what is set to be a massive season.”
Helen Tyrikos , Head of Women’s Football said that the first priority was to build the right culture at the Club from the top down. “There is such a high churn of players in senior football and we worked hard with Johno to find the players that believed in our vision and the Heidelberg brand. Building loyalty is a very important part of building a strong brand. I am so honoured with the players and their support. 2021 is going to be our year.”
